Experience in Complex Litigation Kristin has several years’ litigation experience. Prior to joining Furman Nilsen & Lomond, PLLC, Kristin worked as an attorney with a large Louisville law firm with a defense litigation practice. Kristin practiced in several areas of law, including product liability, warranty claims, asbestos litigation, premises liability, and drug and medical device litigation. Kristin worked extensively on the national and state-wide “fen-phen” litigation, and she has also practiced in mass tort and class actions.
Clerk for Kentucky Supreme Court Prior to her law firm experience, Kristin began her legal career as law clerk to the Honorable Martin Johnstone. Kristin worked as Justice Johnstone’s law clerk during his tenure on three different Kentucky courts, the Jefferson Circuit Court, the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the Kentucky Supreme Court.
Active in the Bar Kristin is an active member of the Louisville, Kentucky and American Bar Associations. She is a member of the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys, past officer of the Women Lawyers Association of Jefferson County, a member of the Defense Research Institute and a past member of the Brandeis Inn of Court. During law school, Kristin was Notes Editor of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law’s primary law review, the Journal of Family Law.
Former Department of Defense Investigator Prior to her legal career, Kristin worked as an Industrial Security Specialist for the Department of Defense, Defense Investigative Service. In that capacity, Kristin inspected and educated government contractors in the physical, personnel and electronic security and handling of government classified information for various Defense Department agencies. Kristin earned her bachelor of science, cum laude, from the University of Dayton in 1987, and graduated from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in 1993.
